Charles Eckhardt Acrylic Painting 2011

Greetings from Charles Eckhardt in Tulsa OK, USA.
Just a quick note to show my sincere thanks for allowing me to join the
fantastic S2A Group.I have been painting abstract modernist geometric
acrylics for over twenty years, along with metal and wood abstract kinetic
sculptures. I won a metal and glass competition at Central State University in
1976 which sparked the excitement for a future dealing in art and mid century
modern decorative arts. I have been influenced by the 50s and 60s New York
School of modern painters and many wonderful 20th Century artists and
designers. Thanks so much again and I hope that my paintings are a source
of enjoyment.Charles EckhardtTulsa Oklahoma USA

Greetings

Hi all,

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Shannon Novak, an Auckland (New Zealand) based artist devoted to geometric abstraction. My practice focuses on exploring the interrelationships between sound, colour, form, time, and space.

I am looking forward to contributing to the group - it is exciting to see such a group exists.

If you would like to look at my work I have a Facebook artist page where I post regular updates on my practice:

I also have a web site that has a current portfolio of work.

I look forward to talking with you all.

Cheers,
Shannon.

Remember Malevich and Suprematism? Here's my humble take of the dynamism underlying his artistic thinking. His writings, particularly The World as Non-0bjectivity, is still compelling. As Hamlet says: "And therefore as a stranger give it welcome. There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

Steel Mill

I visited a steel mill and did some paintings from the experience. I took away the immense importance steel making has in our world, hence the title: "A feeling of making the world, Steel Mill #2".

mature hard edge abstracts

After a life of design and illustration, I had the opportunity and time, in 2000 to renew my interest in painting,. Which has resulted, after a few blind alleys, my hard edge abstracts. Originally based on canal boats in East London and Amsterdam, the subject reference has become many objects, that are not recognisable on completion.
